Ukraine and Poland Join Forces Against Russian Sabotage on Railways
Ukraine and Poland are set to enhance their collaboration to counter threats from Russia, especially regarding railway security. This was announced following a conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The two nations have agreed to establish a joint task force to monitor and respond to potential threats.
“We are ready to cooperate with Poland at all levels and share information. We agreed to the formation of a Ukrainian-Polish group that will work on preventing threats from Russia,” Zelensky stated on his Telegram channel.
Tusk shared intelligence from Polish law enforcement regarding recent railway incidents in Poland.
He highlighted that social media platforms, particularly Telegram, were used to orchestrate sabotage activities and misinformation campaigns against Ukraine.
“Such actions are directed against us daily, including on the railways. At Ukrzaliznytsia, we have implemented necessary measures to counter such threats. All evidence points to a Russian connection. No one else has an interest in this,” Zelensky added.
The President emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to work with Poland in preventing sabotage.
It is worth noting that recent explosions on railway tracks near Miko and other incidents on infrastructure near Pulawy are considered acts of sabotage. These events occurred on the strategically significant Warsaw – Lublin route, which is crucial for supporting Ukraine. Polish authorities have identified two individuals with Ukrainian passports as responsible for the sabotage, who entered Poland from Belarus and fled back after committing their acts. In response to these incidents, Poland has decided to deploy territorial defense forces to patrol critical railway sections.
