Joint Projects Between Ukraine and the USA in Mineral Extraction
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliya Svyrydenko announced the preparation of three joint initiatives between Ukraine and the USA in the field of mineral extraction. Their implementation is planned to commence within the next 18 months under a bilateral agreement regarding subsoil use.
She shared this on Facebook after negotiations with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Details: According to the Prime Minister, the parties discussed the establishment of an American-Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund, with the first board meeting scheduled for September.
Direct quote: "We are working on expanding the fund's mandate so that it can also invest in the defense sector. Our goal is to launch the first three projects within 18 months".
Details: The parties also paid particular attention to defense cooperation during the discussions. Topics included a potential agreement initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the production and export of Ukrainian drones, as well as possible procurement of American weapons.
"We also raised issues of increasing sanctions pressure and cooperation with international financial organizations", – added Svyrydenko.
