Statement from Ukraine's Foreign Ministry on Middle East Situation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has highlighted Iran's destructive role in the region and beyond, particularly regarding its support for Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
“We are closely monitoring developments in the Middle East as Israel has carried out strikes on targets in Iran,” the official statement reads.
Given the risks of further destabilization, we note that escalating conflict could threaten international security and financial stability, especially in the oil markets.
It is essential to avoid further conflict and protect civilian lives,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry added that Iran continues to supply weapons to Russia for its war against Ukraine, raising serious concerns.
“Iran is a source of many problems in the region,” emphasized the Foreign Ministry.
“Restoring peace in the Middle East is crucial for global stability. Security in Europe and the Middle East is closely linked. Therefore, we call on the international community to take decisive actions against aggressive regimes,” the statement said.
In light of the worsening situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Ukrainians to refrain from traveling to the countries in the region, including Israel, Iran, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and Syria until the situation stabilizes.
For those currently in these countries, it is advised to follow safety measures, stay informed with local authorities' updates, and always carry identification documents.
