“I will refrain from disclosing details, but I can assure you that we will continue and expand our military support for Ukraine, allowing the country to defend itself against Russian aggression now and in the future,” he stated.
A memorandum will be signed in Berlin between the defense ministers of Germany and Ukraine regarding the procurement of Ukrainian weapon systems.
“Today, our ministers will sign a memorandum of intent regarding the procurement of Ukrainian long-range weapon systems, known as Long-Range Fires.”
Merz emphasized that “there will be no restrictions on range, enabling Ukraine to fully exercise its right to self-defense, including strikes on military targets beyond its territory.”
At the same time, the chancellor evaded a question about whether the German government would supply Ukraine with Taurus cruise missiles.
“Today, after lunch, a memorandum of intent will be signed between our defense ministers. We aim to create opportunities for the use of long-range weaponry and joint production, though details will not be disclosed publicly,” he mentioned.
Merz noted, “Today we are taking an important step towards cooperation in the production of long-range weapons between Germany and Ukraine.”

“I hope we receive $30 billion to fully activate our domestic production,” Zelensky told reporters in Kyiv. “This is the amount necessary to fund our missile program and other capable productions.”
