Ukraine's Legislative Changes for European Payment Integration

The Ukrainian government has approved a series of new laws intended to align with the European Union and join the SEPA payment system.

This was announced by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

Joining SEPA will enable Ukrainian citizens and businesses to make quick euro transfers between 36 European countries without additional fees.

“The primary goal of these legislative initiatives is to align Ukrainian laws with European standards in preventing money laundering and combating terrorism financing,” the ministry's statement said.

This is a crucial step for submitting an official application to join SEPA.

SEPA is an EU initiative functioning in 36 countries, aimed at simplifying cashless euro transactions. It allows payments from any bank account to any SEPA member country using a unified set of payment tools.

Ukraine's Path to the EU: Fastest Progress Among Candidates

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine is demonstrating the fastest progress towards EU membership among all candidate countries in history.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved resolution No. 451 “On the Approval of the Procedure for Maintaining the State Register of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).”

The establishment of this register is necessary for Ukraine to fulfill its obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU.

Previously, the Cabinet made a significant decision aimed at joining the EU's unified roaming space.

According to the Prime Minister, the government has allocated about UAH 6.3 million for urgent work at the National Children's Hospital “Okhmatdyt.”
