Innovative Thermal Imaging Solutions by Oko Camera
The Ukrainian company "Oko Camera", specializing in thermal imaging technology for defense, has unveiled its new line of cameras at the Brave1 Components exhibition.
These cameras operate in passive mode, feature sensitive optics, and are produced without Chinese components. Key elements, such as sensors and optics, are sourced from European suppliers, while assembly and software development are entirely conducted in Ukraine.
Oko Camera's products are integrated into various systems including turrets, bombers, drones, autonomous navigation systems, and counter-drone complexes. The company acts as a component partner for other manufacturers, customizing its modules to meet specific technical requirements, including image processing and detection of moving targets at long distances.
According to the manufacturer, current production capabilities allow for several hundred cameras to be produced monthly, depending on the type of optics. The company plans to open additional production lines and reach a production level of over 1000 cameras per month by 2026.
Challenges for scaling include production cycles, logistics of components, and tax restrictions.
"There are challenges that make the Ukrainian camera more expensive. For instance, we sell with VAT, while Chinese manufacturers can sell without it," the company explained.
The cost of cameras primarily depends on the optics: basic thermal modules start from 2000 euros. For specific tasks, the team offers customized solutions – either cost-effective or high-sensitivity, depending on the manufacturer's needs.
Oko Camera is a Ukrainian developer of thermal cameras and their software, focusing on high-sensitivity optics, avoidance of Chinese components, and creation of customized modules for defense systems.
