Elimination of OMON Lieutenant Colonel: New Insights into War Crimes in Ukraine

Recently, a lieutenant colonel of the Russian OMON unit «Oberig», linked to war crimes in the Kyiv region, was eliminated in Russia. The Main Intelligence Directorate reports that a few days ago, a car exploded in the Kemerovo region, where the war criminal Veniamin Mazherin was driving.
Based on collected evidence and testimonies, the Office of the Prosecutor General opened criminal proceedings against the servicemen of this unit, particularly regarding violations of the laws and customs of war.
The lieutenant colonel served in the special OMON unit «Oberig» of the Rosgvardiya in the Kemerovo region.
«On October 25, 2025, a car exploded in the Kemerovo region of the aggressor state where war criminal Mazherin Veniamin Vladimirovich was driving. Lieutenant Colonel Mazherin, born in 1980, served in the special unit OMON “Oberig” of the Rosgvardiya in Kemerovo region, — states the message from GUR on their Telegram channel.
The intelligence emphasizes that «Oberig» is one of many units involved in war crimes and the genocide of the Ukrainian people in the Kyiv region during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation in February-March 2022.
The military intelligence of Ukraine identified the war criminals from «Oberig» by name as early as April 2022 and planned measures aimed at justly punishing those listed.
