Air Defense Success: Ukraine's Recent Target Neutralization
The Air Forces have neutralized 320 aerial targets out of 416 launched by Russia since the evening of October 2. Specifically, 303 drones of various types, 12 Iskander-K cruise missiles, and five guided aviation missiles X-59/69 were destroyed. This was reported by the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their Facebook page.
On the night of October 3 (starting at 20:00 on October 2), the enemy launched a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine using strike UAVs, air and ground-launched missiles, totaling 416 aerial assault units.
In particular, Russia launched:
- 381 Shahed-type strike UAVs, Gerbera (drones of other types) from the regions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk;
- seven Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
- 21 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- seven guided aviation missiles X-59/69.
"The main target of the strikes was critical infrastructure (energy sector) facilities in the Kharkiv and Poltava regions," - noted the Air Forces.
Additionally, the nighttime attack affected the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Kyiv regions.
The defense against the air assault was carried out by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 10:00, air defense had shot down or neutralized 320 aerial targets:
- 303 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera type;
- 12 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- five guided aviation missiles X-59/69.
Impact was recorded for 18 missiles and 78 strike UAVs at 15 locations, as well as the fall of debris at six locations.
