Latest Prisoner Exchange: Ukrainians Return Home
A recent prisoner exchange took place between Ukraine and Russia, resulting in the return of 205 individuals, including 185 military personnel and 20 civilians. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram.
«We are brought home 185 of our defenders, comprising privates, sergeants, and two officers. Among those returning are soldiers from the Armed Forces, the National Guard, and the State Border Service. Additionally, 20 civilians are coming back to us. Everyone will receive the necessary support,» - noted Zelensky.
He emphasized that the returned soldiers were held captive in areas such as Mariupol and at «Azovstal», with most having been in captivity since 2022.
«We thank everyone working on these exchanges. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we have managed to bring back over 7,000 of our citizens. We must bring everyone back, and we work on this daily,» - the President stressed.
It is worth noting that the last prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place on August 24, when military personnel and civilians returned home, including journalist Dmytro Khilyuk and former mayor of Kherson Volodymyr Mykolayenko.
