On the night of August 28, Russian forces launched an attack on the Ukrzaliznytsia train park, causing a fire and damaging the equipment.
This was reported by the UZ through Telegram.
Specifically, Ukrzaliznytsia stated: "Last night, the enemy carried out a targeted strike on civilian passenger rolling stock. Among those targeted was the fleet of high-speed Intercity+ trains. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the railway workers at the depot, the fire was promptly extinguished. One train sustained significant damage".
Details: UZ noted that staff were in shelters, so there were no injuries.
"We are doing everything possible to ensure that the maximum number of trains continue to operate. No service will be canceled; we will deploy replacement rolling stock. We will inform about delays, as the restoration of damaged infrastructure is ongoing," the railway stated.
They also reminded that due to damage to the infrastructure at the railway hub in Koziatyn, several trains are still following altered routes.
