Successful Evacuation of Ukrainians from Conflict Zone in Gaza
On September 30, a team from the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine executed a critical evacuation mission from the war-torn Gaza Strip. This operation was conducted under the orders of the President of Ukraine, as reported by the GUR.
The mission successfully rescued 57 individuals, including 48 Ukrainian citizens (16 children, 14 women, and 18 men). Additionally, nine Palestinians, who are family members of Ukrainians, were evacuated from Gaza.
The plane carrying the evacuees landed at Chișinău Airport, where the individuals then traveled by bus to Ukraine.
“We lived in tents for a month and a half with five children. Our house was destroyed, but thankfully we are all alive. When we learned about the evacuation, we immediately decided to return home. I am originally from Poltava region, where my mother lives. We will finally meet. I thank Ukraine, our President, the GUR, and everyone who contributed to our rescue. They saved our lives,” shared Ms. Lyudmila, one of the evacuees.
The Ukrainian government expressed gratitude to the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel, the Embassy of Ukraine in Jordan, and Moldova for their assistance in organizing the evacuation. The airline SkyUp was specifically recognized for its ongoing support in transporting citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminded that Ukrainians remaining in the Gaza Strip who need help can contact the Embassy of Ukraine in Israel at (+972) 54 667 67 82 or the 24/7 hotline of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: +38-044-238-16-57.
Ukraine reassured that it will continue to do everything possible to ensure the safety of its citizens abroad.
