Veterans Compete in Petanque: A New Arena and Excitement
Veterans competed in four categories during the 6th petanque tournament.
On June 14th, the new petanque venue was inaugurated at 'Pribrezhny' park as part of the 'Petanque for Veterans' project.

For seven hours, teams battled it out at the new venue: 'Steel Legion' (Kovel), 'Iron Warriors' (Kyiv), 'Strong in Spirit' (Poltava), 'Unconquered' (Krivyi Rih), Charity Fund 'Ukraine Above All' (Kyiv), Charity Fund 'Rehabilitation Forces of Ukraine' (Kyiv), Charity Fund 'Revival of the Strong'/ Rehabilitation of Veterans (Kyiv).
A surprise for the participants was a greeting from Hero of Ukraine Oleksandr Marchuk, who has just returned from the front. The Ukrainian anthem and 'Kyiv Waltz' performed by opera singer Yuriy Godo were additional gifts from the event organizers.
Fans actively supported their teams for the entire seven hours.
In the 'Champion Club' category, gold was won by 'Steel Legion' (Kovel), silver went to 'Iron Warriors' (Kyiv), and bronze was awarded to 'Ukraine Above All' (Kyiv).
In the 'Captains' Battle', the first place was taken by Dmytro Martyniuk ('Steel Legion'), second place went to Serhiy Khrapko ('Iron Warriors'), and third place was awarded to Mykhailo Paryfonov ('Rehabilitation Forces of Ukraine').
In the 'Triples' category, the winners were 'Ukraine Above All' (Kyiv), 'Strong in Spirit' (Poltava), and 'Unconquered' (Krivyi Rih), while in the 'Doubles': 'Steel Legion' (Kovel), 'Rehabilitation Forces of Ukraine' (Kyiv), and 'Ukraine Above All' (Kyiv).
Yevheniya Nerseyan, the head of the Charity Fund 'Ukraine Above All', presented a full set of sports equipment for petanque and future tournaments.
The organizers assert that petanque is a veteran sport accessible to everyone without restrictions.
