Ukraine Unveils New Contra-drone NEO Robot
Ukraine has developed the Contra-drone NEO, a wheeled robot designed to provide defense against drones. This robot is equipped with an advanced electronic warfare system that enables it to perform various defense tasks.
A representative from the manufacturing company explained that the NEO is outfitted with a 10-channel electronic warfare system capable of countering FPV drones and "Mavics".
It features two types of antennas: a dome antenna for 360-degree coverage and a directional antenna for increased power focused on specific targets.
The directional antenna is crucial for engaging drones like Mavic and Autel, located at the front of the robot. The operator can adjust its tilt angle to aim at enemy drones performing reconnaissance or delivery missions.
The NEO can carry a load of 300 kg over a distance of 30 kilometers, reaching speeds of up to 15 km/h.
This robot is equipped with puncture-proof tires designed to withstand detonations from anti-personnel mines and can rotate 360 degrees on the spot.
The robot is primarily controlled via Starlink, but if it loses connection while navigating through dense vegetation, the operator can switch to radio control with a range of 5 km.
Equipped with surveillance and thermal imaging cameras, the NEO assists operators during combat tasks, with drones providing route correction and threat detection.
Contra-drone has indicated that the robot was designed for multiple applications, including cargo delivery and casualty evacuation. The electronic warfare equipment housed above the platform can be removed and repurposed for other missions.
Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already acquired the Contra-drone NEO. The cost of the robot with electronic warfare capabilities starts at approximately 1.2 million UAH, depending on the configuration.
