Ukraine to Revive Geological Exploration Program

Ukraine is set to reinstate its geological exploration program in 2026, collaborating with international partners. The work may commence even amidst active military conflicts, as stated by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Yegor Perelygin.
Perelygin emphasized that the last geological exploration funded by the state budget took place over 10 years ago. The program is expected to be restored next year.
«We are bringing back geological exploration under a budget program. We are involving partners – Americans, Germans, Canadians, and British are very interested», — said the Deputy Minister.
To avoid wasting time, the work is planned to start with well-known deposits from Soviet times. This will allow for operations to begin without the need for high-tech scanning at the initial stage.
Perelygin explained that currently, it is impossible to use, for instance, lidar radar for aerial scanning, but Ukraine «has hundreds of locations of already discovered deposits».
«We can go in with drilling rigs, equipment, and start working. Once the war ends, there will be lidar scanning, GIS, and other technologies. But we must not waste time; we need to start. The main thing is to take the first step», — highlighted the Deputy Minister.
