Celebrating Military Intelligence Day in Ukraine
On September 7, Ukraine celebrates Military Intelligence Day. This holiday signifies the recognition of the crucial role played by military intelligence in protecting national interests. During times of open aggression, the country requires effective and active intelligence capable of providing objective and reliable information, as well as forecasts for making important decisions in national security.
Military intelligence is the eyes, ears, and brain of the army, stated Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
According to Budanov, this day honors those who engage in the significant struggle for the freedom and security of our nation.
“Military intelligence,” Budanov emphasized, “is bravery, determination, and dedication to Ukraine.”
He mentioned that the daily work of Ukrainian intelligence officers combines intellect, technology, analytics, and courage.
Many comrades have paid the highest price, remaining loyal to their oath. Their names will forever be remembered at the Memorial of the Fallen, noted the head of the GUR. He expressed gratitude to every intelligence officer and to the families waiting for their heroes.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine congratulated the intelligence officers on Military Intelligence Day. The greeting was published on his Facebook page.
“Dear defenders of Ukraine! On September 7, we traditionally celebrate Military Intelligence Day. I sincerely congratulate the intelligence officers on their professional holiday! Thousands of Ukrainian intelligence officers work around the clock, every day on the front line and behind enemy lines to achieve necessary results for Ukraine,” stated Syrskii.
“The combat experience of Ukrainian intelligence officers is highly valued by our Western partners,” he added.
“The time will come when we can discuss all the significant operations of Ukrainian intelligence officers,” Syrskii emphasized.
“On this day, we bow our heads in sorrow for the military intelligence officers who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence. Eternal memory and glory to the fallen knights,” the general added.
He also expressed gratitude to the soldiers for their contributions.
“Dear brothers and sisters in arms! Thank you for your significant contribution to our common cause,” stated Syrskii.
Military Intelligence Day in Ukraine was established by presidential decree on September 7, 2022. It is celebrated annually on September 7. On September 5, a memorial sign for the soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate was ceremoniously opened near the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian People in Kyiv.
