Ukrposhta Revamps Mobile App with Enhanced Features

The state postal operator "Ukrposhta" is preparing to launch its updated mobile application this year, which will include new features to facilitate user interaction with postal services.

According to the company’s CEO Igor Smiliansky in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, the new application is one of the key projects for 2025.

"We plan to launch the updated app by the end of the first half of the year. It will not only track parcels but also add features for interacting with customs, displaying estimated delivery dates, confirming documents, and viewing the history of shipments and payments," Smiliansky emphasized.

The launch of the new application was initially scheduled for 2024, but was postponed due to various reasons. The old application has low ratings on the App Store and Google Play Market. One of its main issues is the lack of notifications about parcel status. The new app is expected to allow users to redirect parcels to different branches, which currently can only be done via phone or at post offices.

Additionally, Igor Smiliansky reported that around 1 billion UAH was invested in automation in 2024. "This amount includes guarantees for five years. Moreover, all funds are our own financing," the CEO stated.

He also noted that now over 90% of parcels arrive on time. "I measure the effect of automation through Facebook and TikTok. Earlier, there were dozens, if not hundreds, of comments under my posts about how poorly "Ukrposhta" delivered. In the last two months – almost none. For me, this is the most honest indicator because it cannot be faked. We launched full automation, and are now refining the IT system so that clients can see the estimated delivery date at the time of sending," Smiliansky concluded.

It is worth noting that in February 2025, "Ukrposhta" completely automated its parcel sorting process. In January 2025, the government transferred shares of the First Investment Bank, previously owned by Russian oligarchs, to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development for subsequent transfer to "Ukrposhta". This will enable the postal operator to have its own banking institution. Earlier, Igor Smiliansky claimed that after the establishment of its own bank, "Ukrposhta"'s capitalization would increase, allowing it to build an Amazon-like platform in the Ukrainian format. Additionally, it should be noted that last year "Ukrposhta" reported a revenue of 12.98 billion UAH, which is 8% more than nearly 12 billion in 2023. However, considering the annual inflation rate of 14.6%, the real growth turned into a decline – by the end of 2024, the loss reached 387 million UAH.
