Energy Situation in Ukraine: New Challenges
Ukrenergo has denied rumors about a possible return to electricity outages.
This information was reported by the company’s press service.
"In recent days, some media outlets and Telegram channels have begun spreading clickbait headlines about potential outages. We would like to clarify that this information is false. No restrictions are currently being implemented," the statement said.
However, the company noted that there is indeed a need for rational electricity consumption, as repair works at energy facilities continue following Russian attacks. Moreover, due to the cold weather across Ukraine, electricity consumption has significantly increased, with more people turning on fireplaces, heaters, and air conditioners for warmth.
Additionally, with the end of the heating season, some generation facilities that cannot produce electricity independently have ceased operations since last week.
The situation is further complicated by cloudy weather in some regions of Ukraine, which reduces the efficiency of solar power plants.
Thus, Ukrenergo urges citizens to reduce the use of powerful electrical appliances and avoid using multiple such devices simultaneously between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM.
As a reminder:
In Ukraine, due to a significant drop in temperature on the morning of April 7, electricity consumption exceeded the level of the previous working day — April 4 — by 16%.
On April 8, electricity consumption remained high. As of 9:30 AM, the level of electricity consumption was 2.3% higher than at the same time the previous day — on Monday.
