Ukraine's Response to Congresswoman Spartz's Remarks
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (MFA) has reacted to remarks made by Congresswoman Victoria Spartz concerning the need for Ukraine to "reconcile" with its territorial losses.
Spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy emphasized that "all our lands have always been and will remain Ukrainian".
The MFA of Ukraine sharply responded to Spartz’s statement.
This comment was in reply to an interview Spartz gave to The Telegraph, where she stated that Ukrainians "should come to terms with ceding their territories to Russia" and expressed confusion over Ukraine's demands to retain all its lands.
"Unlike Victoria, all our lands have always been and will remain Ukrainian," Tikhiy noted.
It is important to mention that Spartz's position regarding support for Ukraine has changed. Once an active supporter of aid during the early days of the full-scale invasion, she voted against a $61 billion aid package last year, unfoundedly accusing the Ukrainian government of corruption.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that no one will win on the battlefield in this war.
In February, in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, President Zelensky met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Zelensky asserted that no side will triumph solely through military means in this conflict. However, he stressed that a shift to diplomacy must lead to a "just peace".
The issue of territories occupied by Russia remains a key challenge in resolving the war in Ukraine.
Trump's special envoy stated that the goal of the negotiations between the US, Ukraine, and Russia is to achieve a 30-day ceasefire, which Russia systematically violates.
Zelensky emphasized that the 30-day ceasefire would depend on a strong response from the US to Russia's attempts to delay.
