Snowfall in Kyiv: Winter Wonderland Begins
From late Thursday night, December 26, Kyiv is covered in snow. The true winter has arrived.
This has been reported by the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA).
Currently, efforts are underway in Kyiv to address the aftermath of the snowfall. According to KCSA, 182 units of special equipment from "Kyivavtodor" are actively working on the city's streets.
Priority is given to clearing snow from major roads, bridges, overpasses, and the approaches to public transport stops.
Additionally, 122 workers are involved in 23 manual cleaning teams. They are clearing snow from stops, narrow sidewalks, stairs, and other pedestrian areas where small snow-clearing machines cannot operate.
In residential areas, snow is being cleared by the staff of management companies.
In parks, the "greenery workers" are removing snow: 43 units of equipment and 673 workers are involved.
According to forecasts, today, December 26, there will be icy conditions on the roads, strong winds of 15-20 m/s, and snowstorms.
"We urge drivers to be extremely cautious on the roads and maintain a safe distance. Pedestrians should also be careful and remember to wear reflectors in low light conditions," added KCSA.
Weather Forecast for Ukraine Today
According to meteorological forecasts for Friday, December 26, the weather across Ukraine will be truly winter-like.
During the day, snow is expected throughout Ukraine (except for the far west), and icy conditions will form on the roads.
Meanwhile, the temperature will change due to increasing cloudiness. Thus, the frost will ease slightly.
Expected nighttime temperatures across Ukraine will be between -4 to -9 degrees Celsius, and in the Carpathians, it may drop to -13 degrees.
Moreover, daytime maximums across the country will range from 0 to -5 degrees Celsius.
Previously, the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reported that a significant winter chill is approaching Ukraine.
As a result, the formation and intensification of ice phenomena are expected on rivers and shallow reservoirs, which may pose risks.
