A woman has been charged for her unsuccessful «joke», which could lead to an eight-year prison sentence.
The Kyiv police received a call from a woman claiming she intended to blow up a police administrative building. This information was immediately relayed to the appropriate authorities.
Officers and detectives quickly determined that the call to the emergency line «102» was made by a 52-year-old local resident who was at home at the time of the call. During the search of her residence, no explosive devices were found. When speaking with law enforcement, the woman failed to provide any rational explanation for her actions.
Investigators detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged her under part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – knowingly providing false information about an impending explosion at a facility serving government authorities.
The penalty for this offense carries a sentence of up to eight years in prison.
