A 40-year-old man in Kyiv, intoxicated, was harassing strangers and threatening them with a knife. He faces up to seven years in prison.
Recently, police received reports of a man engaging in hooligan behavior in the courtyard of a residential building in the Obolon district.
Upon their arrival, officers found that the offender had attacked a driver in a parked car, trying to open the doors. He then damaged the vehicle and obstructed the driver from leaving the area.
Subsequently, the assailant provoked a conflict with a couple passing by. Brandishing a knife, he swung it around and knocked the man to the ground, resulting in a broken forearm.
The perpetrator was arrested - he turned out to be a local 40-year-old man who was also drunk. It was established that he had prior criminal records for similar offenses.
Investigators informed him of his suspicion under part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – hooliganism. This article prescribes up to seven years of imprisonment. He will remain in custody during the pre-trial investigation.
