Ukraine's Collaboration with the European Union on Security Matters
During a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed collaborative efforts with his EU counterparts to strengthen the defense resilience of Ukraine and the entire continent. He shared this update via Telegram.
«In Brussels, I participated in the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting where we focused on our joint actions to enhance Ukraine's resilience and that of Europe», Shmyhal stated.
He emphasized that the launch of the European Defense Industrial Program opens new opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers to integrate into the European defense market.
«The establishment of the Ukraine Support Instrument worth 300 million euros is another significant step toward deepening our cooperation. We also look forward to the practical implementation of the SAFE instrument», he added.
In his speech at the meeting, Shmyhal highlighted the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry and invited partners to engage in new joint projects under the Build with Ukraine initiative.
He also pointed out that a crucial funding source for Ukraine's defense should be a mechanism based on frozen Russian assets.
Additionally, the Minister informed allies about the urgent needs of the Ukrainian military, particularly in air defense.
«To meet the needs of the Defense Forces, it is important to make new contributions to the PURL initiative, which allows Ukraine to receive necessary American weapons», he stressed.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to EU countries for decisions that bolster Ukraine's defense and emphasized that through joint efforts, a just and lasting peace can be secured on our continent.
On November 30, the defense ministers of Ukraine and Norway signed a document on joint production of Ukrainian drones.
