The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is set to implement a new educational format known as the "zero course" in universities.
This announcement was made by Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi during the question hour in the Verkhovna Rada.
"We have developed a draft resolution that allows for admission to a zero course without passing the NMT, enabling us to attract students who were unable to pass the NMT for various reasons, including educational losses or studying abroad," said Lisovyi.
According to him, this admission option will not only be available during the main admission campaign but also in winter and spring.
However, he emphasized that the zero course should be designed to prepare students for the NMT, ensuring a fair distribution of state resources.
Lisovyi also noted that the rectors' community supports this initiative.
"I believe we will attract a significant number of students, including those from abroad," the minister emphasized.
This year, 178,000 applicants have been admitted to higher education institutions in Ukraine, with more than half receiving financial support from the government.
