Italy Invests in Ukraine's Cybersecurity

As part of its cooperation with the Tallinn mechanism, Italy has allocated 1 million euros to enhance Ukraine's cybersecurity. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
"Italy has directed 1 million euros to bolster Ukraine's cyberspace. Approximately 900,000 euros will be used for the protection of the Ternopil region, with another 100,000 euros allocated to support the Tallinn mechanism Project Office," the statement reads.
The press service mentions that, thanks to collaboration with Italy, two cyber projects are being implemented in the Ternopil region: infrastructure modernization (Ternopil will receive modern networking and server equipment) and the establishment of a secure network (a network will be built using automated security measures, including EDR systems, and personnel will be trained to respond swiftly to complex threats).
Part of Italy's contribution will go towards the operation of the Tallinn mechanism Project Office, which will help attract more international initiatives to protect Ukraine's digital ecosystem. Additionally, they will finance the annual review of the national cybersecurity system by the National Cyber Coordination Center (NCCC) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, allowing for clear visibility of risks and professional mitigation.
Italy joined the Tallinn mechanism in 2024. During the Ukraine Recovery Conference held in Rome in July 2025, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani signed a declaration of intent to develop long-term initiatives for enhancing cyber capabilities and strengthening Ukraine's digital infrastructure.
