Sweden's Commitment to Security Guarantees for Ukraine
Sweden has expressed its willingness to contribute to security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe, emphasizing the importance of reaching a peace agreement regarding Russian aggression.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson shared this news on social media X after the Coalition of Willing met in Paris, involving representatives from Ukraine and the USA.
“Today in Paris, we made significant progress as members of the Coalition of Willing, Ukraine, and the United States discussed peace opportunities in Ukraine,” he noted.
According to him, once a peace agreement is achieved, Sweden will provide Gripen fighter jets for air surveillance over Ukraine, resources for demining the Black Sea, and continue training Ukrainian military personnel.
“Of course, this is contingent upon the signing of a peace agreement, clear regulations for multinational forces, and the approval of appropriate parliamentary decisions,” the Prime Minister added.
“Sweden is ready to contribute to ensuring peace in Europe,” he emphasized.
At the conclusion of the meeting in Paris, the leaders of the Coalition of Willing, Ukraine, and the USA signed a joint statement titled “Reliable Security Guarantees for a Stable and Lasting Peace in Ukraine.”
