Zelensky Meets with Pedro Sanchez: Steps Toward Peace

In Brussels, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

The leaders discussed coordination of positions and actions with Europe regarding the negotiation process with the U.S. President's team for achieving a just peace. The President emphasized the importance of European involvement at every stage, ensuring that peace guarantees Ukraine's sovereignty and European security.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to Pedro Sanchez for the continued defense support, including the decision to provide missiles for the IRIS-T system and participation in the PURL and SAFE programs. They specifically addressed current needs, particularly the enhancement of air defense.

The President also acknowledged Spain's support for all EU sanctions packages against Russia. Ukraine expects that the 20th package will include strict measures against the Russian banking sector, shadow fleet, dual-use technologies, as well as Russian oligarchs and propagandists.

The leaders paid special attention to Ukraine's movement towards EU membership, which is also a crucial element of security guarantees.
