The focus is on advanced air defense systems, munitions, and spare parts from U.S. stockpiles.
In an interview with Suspilne, NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Šekerinska stated this.
By the end of the year, Ukraine will receive military equipment worth about $5 billion through the expedited assistance mechanism PURL.
According to her, it is through PURL that Ukraine acquires the most critically needed systems — primarily air defense, along with munitions and spare parts.
«A significant portion of air defense assets is arriving in Ukraine through PURL — this is literally a matter of life and death,» emphasized Šekerinska.
She noted that logistics are operating continuously through hubs in Poland and Romania. European allies and Canada are funding the aid packages, with Australia and New Zealand also joining the initiative.
NATO acknowledges that despite substantial supplies, Ukraine's need for air defense remains high. The defense industries of allied countries are ramping up production to address this shortfall.
