Strengthening Defense Collaboration Between Ukraine and Slovenia

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmyhal held discussions with his Slovenian counterpart Borut Sajovic about future defense cooperation between the two nations. Shmyhal shared the details via his Telegram account.
The meeting took place in Kyiv, where the Ukrainian minister expressed gratitude to Slovenia for its support, especially for participating in the PURL initiative, which significantly enhances our capabilities, primarily in the area of air defense. He noted that Slovenia plans to allocate approximately €43 million for this initiative by the end of the year.
Shmyhal emphasized the importance of the security cooperation agreement and the long-term support between the countries.
The parties focused on avenues for developing collaboration, stating, "We are ready to share our experiences with interceptor drones, deepstrike systems, and other types of UAVs."
He also mentioned that Ukraine and Slovenia are considering joint industrial projects within the frameworks of European initiatives EDIP and SAFE, as well as under the "Danish model" format.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed the possibility of providing training weapons for the preparation of Ukrainian military personnel and the potential use of frozen Russian assets to bolster Ukraine's defense.
