New Grant Program to Enhance Safety in Ukraine
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Igor Klymenko, announced the launch of a new grant program designed to significantly enhance the capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. On November 2nd, together with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan, Masashi Nakagome, we signed a crucial document that initiates this initiative.
The total funding amounts to 27 million USD, which is a substantial contribution to our cause.
The first component of the program is humanitarian demining (23.6 million USD). Today, Ukraine is one of the most mined countries in the world, making support for the State Emergency Service critically important.
As part of this program, rescuers will receive:
- mechanized demining vehicles;
- robotic systems;
- underwater demining equipment;
- spare parts and maintenance tools.
Additionally, 8 mobile safety classes will be established to teach children how to act when encountering explosive objects. This is an investment in their safety.
The second component focuses on the medical field (over 3 million USD). Medical institutions within the Ministry of Internal Affairs will receive modern surgical equipment for stabilizing victims and rehabilitation. This is a chance to save lives. Each of our defenders should receive medical assistance at the highest level. This program is about the lives of people and the safety of communities, about our resilience. We thank Japan for their unwavering support.
