Rustem Umerov, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, along with his team, has set off to the United States for crucial peace negotiations. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky in a Facebook post.
Zelensky stated: "The Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine and head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, is already on his way to the United States. Today, Rustem provided a report, and the task is clear – to quickly and effectively outline steps to end the war".
According to the President, Ukraine continues to work constructively with the United States, "and we hope that the outcomes of the meetings in Geneva will be refined in the U.S."
The President also expressed his expectation for a report from the delegation on their work, which is scheduled for this Sunday.
"Ukraine is striving for a just peace," emphasized the President.
Zelensky has altered the composition of the delegation for talks with the U.S. and other international partners, as well as representatives from the Russian Federation, appointing Umerov at the helm.
