The defense ministries of Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a licensing agreement concerning the Ukrainian interceptor drone known as Octopus. Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced this on his Facebook page.
He stated, "Together with our allies, we are enhancing Ukraine's air defense capabilities. The delegations of the defense ministries of Ukraine and the UK have signed a licensing agreement for the Octopus interceptor drone".
Shmyhal described this as a historic moment and a significant step forward that will enable the production of Ukrainian interceptors in the UK, which have proven effective against the “Shaheds”.
According to the minister, mass production of interceptors is planned, potentially reaching thousands per month. The produced units will be sent to Ukraine to bolster air defense.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to British partners for their cooperation, trust, and contribution to strengthening Ukraine's air defense system.
He mentioned that three companies in Ukraine have received the Octopus technology for serial production of interceptor drones, while another 11 are preparing their production lines.
