Energy Support for Ukraine: New Challenges and Solutions

A significant meeting of G7+ leaders took place to address energy support for Ukraine, where attendees were briefed on the challenging energy sector situation due to attacks from Russia. The Ministry of Energy confirmed this information.
Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Roman Andarak participated in the meeting, informing partners about the critical state of Ukraine's energy sector caused by targeted Russian strikes on vital infrastructure facilities.
Andarak emphasized that with the onset of the heating season, the enemy intensified attacks on energy facilities, causing substantial damage to the gas industry and electricity transmission systems. Furthermore, Russia has increased attacks on railway infrastructure, which is crucial for essential logistics and economic functioning.
The Deputy Minister thanked partners for their ongoing support and outlined urgent needs in the energy sector, including additional gas import volumes, systems for active and passive protection of energy facilities, transformers, mobile substations, generators, and batteries.
During the meeting, participants were also updated on partners' support for Ukraine's natural gas procurement.
