New Armored Vehicles Delivered to Ukraine

In a significant military cooperation effort, Latvia has delivered 21 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. The handover took place at the «Adazi» military base in Riga during the visit of Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal. According to the Ministry of Defense, these vehicles will be deployed within the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
By 2025, Ukraine will have received all 42 promised armored vehicles from Latvia.
Additionally, the Latvians transferred 12 CVR(T) reconnaissance vehicles as part of the previously announced military aid package.
Shmyhal expressed gratitude to Defense Minister Andris Spruds and the Latvian government for their exceptional support.
«We appreciate every step taken alongside us. The struggle continues, and the aggressor is intensifying pressure. We must stand together against this challenge», he stated.
Furthermore, Shmyhal thanked the Latvian friends for an additional contribution of 2.2 million euros to the PURL initiative and financial assistance to the Coalition of Shelters.
He emphasized the importance of participating in NATO's «Renovator» project for the reconstruction of five military rehabilitation centers in Ukraine.
Moreover, the defense minister mentioned hopes for financing through a reparations loan using frozen Russian assets.
«Decisive joint actions on this issue are necessary, as it concerns the security of both Ukraine and other European countries», he concluded.
