Ukraine and Azerbaijan's Energy Partnership
Ukraine is engaged in talks with Azerbaijan to establish a long-term agreement for gas supplies through the Trans-Balkan corridor. This was stated by Ukraine's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husev, in an interview with Report.
"We are negotiating this matter and seek closer cooperation in the energy sector between our countries," Husev noted.
According to him, the first contract for the supply of Azerbaijani gas through the Trans-Balkan corridor has been signed between the two nations.
"We hope for further steps in developing cooperation in energy, bilateral trade, humanitarian issues, and education. We recognize that we share common interests in energy independence and energy efficiency in Central and Eastern Europe, which will also be of great interest to Azerbaijan," the ambassador emphasized.
Husev also thanked Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
"We greatly appreciate Azerbaijan's support in the form of humanitarian aid and the supply of electrical equipment that we critically need, and we hope for the continuation of this cooperation," he noted.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, it was reported that the National Commission for State Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sectors (NERC) simplified the transportation of gas to Ukraine through the Trans-Balkan corridor.
