Norway Provides Ukraine with Financial Support for Winter Gas Supply

Following his visit to Norway, President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that Ukraine will receive approximately $150 million for the purchase of gas for the winter season, marking the third energy support package from this country in 2023. He shared this information via Telegram.
“Today, we have a new energy support package from Norway, amounting to about $150 million for winter gas purchases. This support is critically important,” Zelensky noted.
He expressed gratitude to Norway for this assistance, particularly to Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The president also mentioned that during the meeting with the Norwegian Prime Minister, the consequences of the recent Russian shelling were discussed.
“Thank you for your solidarity and condolences. We talked about Ukraine's needs for air defense systems, missiles, and other steps that could strengthen our country in winter. We also discussed our defense collaboration – drone and missile production, expanding the PURL initiative. We coordinated positions and meetings set to take place this week in Europe,” the Ukrainian leader added.
It should be noted that during the last meeting in the Ramstein format, Norway announced $600 million in funding for UAVs, electronic warfare systems, and explosives. Earlier, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated Norway's readiness to finance the purchase of Patriot systems for Ukraine in the USA. This country is also an active participant in the PURL program, which enables Ukraine to acquire weapons from the USA. On October 10, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced agreements with Norway and the Netherlands regarding assistance in restoring Ukraine's energy system after Russian strikes.
