President Zelensky's Meeting with the International Parliamentary Network
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the delegation of the international parliamentary network United for Ukraine (U4U).
The head of state expressed gratitude to United for Ukraine representatives for their consistent political support for Ukraine during the conflict.
«We count on your support even after the war. We hope for peace to come as soon as possible, but it does not depend solely on us or Europe. We need a fair and lasting peace. We welcome the participation of all your countries in the reconstruction of our state,» emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
The president highlighted the significance of a unified voice and common position of Europe at this critical time. He also thanked for the support of Ukraine’s path to the European Union. The parties discussed mechanisms for launching the first negotiation cluster this year. Legislators stressed that Ukraine must become a member of the EU.
Among the key topics of the meeting were security guarantees for Ukraine. The head of state noted that Ukraine, together with partners in Europe and the US, is working on the architecture of security guarantees. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of defense support for Ukraine, joint weapon production, including drones, technology exchange, and the presence of partner security forces on land, in the air, and at sea.
They also discussed the outcomes of the meeting between the President of Ukraine and other European leaders with the President of the United States in Washington. The head of state mentioned that Ukraine is open to various formats of negotiations to achieve peace both in bilateral and trilateral formats at the level of leaders of Ukraine, the US, and Russia.
Additionally, the mechanisms for utilizing frozen Russian assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine were discussed.
The meeting included representatives from the parliaments of Austria, Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and the European Parliament.
