Ukraine's Economic Recovery: New Initiatives by Olena Zelenska
In Tokyo, Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska participated in a forum dedicated to the economic recovery of our country after the war.
The event gathered government representatives, businesses, and international organizations. The Ukrainian delegation was led by Taras Kachka, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration.
In her speech, Olena Zelenska stressed the importance of considering people's needs in the recovery process.
«It is vital to rebuild not just infrastructure but also to restore people's quality of life. As we say, “Restore the person – the person will restore everything”», she noted.
She pointed out that despite constant shelling from Russia, Ukrainians continue to work and study, while the state actively implements humanitarian initiatives.
«We aim to rebuild what we can right now, without waiting for the conflict to end. Our aggressor seeks to take away not just life but also its quality, so it is important not to give up», the First Lady emphasized.
Olena Zelenska spoke about the school nutrition reform, which has already established a thousand modern school kitchens and provided free meals for younger students.
«This is not just about health; it’s also about creating a sense of security and care for children and their families. We want all students to have access to free meals», she added.
Additionally, the First Lady shared information about the projects of the Olena Zelenska Foundation aimed at helping children in Ukraine.
«We have already restored 17 shelters in schools, created educational spaces in hospitals, and built 15 homes for large foster families. Every child deserves an “Address of Childhood”», she concluded.
Olena Zelenska also expressed gratitude to Japan for its substantial support to Ukraine.
