New Cooperation Framework Between Ukraine and Sweden in Agriculture
The Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine, Vitalii Koval, and the Minister for Rural Affairs of Sweden, Peter Kullgren, have signed a cooperation agreement in the agricultural sector.
This agreement, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy's press service, opens new horizons for collaboration.
New Opportunities for Agricultural Partnership
During a meeting in Stockholm, the initiative “Support Ukrainian Products” was launched, and a memorandum was signed in Brussels.
The document will be effective for three years with the possibility of extension for another three years, aimed at enhancing cooperation in the agricultural and food sectors.
Main areas of cooperation will include:
- Restoration of agricultural supply chains and infrastructure through joint projects.
- Development of scientific and commercial ties between both countries.
Sweden will also assist Ukraine in aligning its legislation with EU standards in agriculture.
Additionally, knowledge exchange in sustainable and environmentally friendly agriculture is planned.
The agreement also outlines cooperation at the business and association levels in areas such as grain production, horticulture, poultry farming, and fish processing.
Vitalii Koval emphasized the importance of Sweden's support for Ukraine's agricultural development.
Discussion on Modernizing the Armed Forces Aviation
As part of the cooperation, the modernization of the Soviet-era aircraft fleet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is also under discussion.
The European Commissioner for Defense stated that Sweden should take the lead in strengthening Europe’s defense capabilities.
It is known that the EU is planning to establish a joint defense fund of €500 billion to increase defense spending.
Recent talks between Ukraine and Sweden concerning the enhancement of the aviation capabilities of the Armed Forces further confirm this partnership.
