New Portuguese Ambassador in Ukraine: A Fresh Start
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has welcomed the new ambassador of Portugal, marking a significant moment in bilateral relations.
According to "European Truth," this information was reported by the Office of the President.
On Thursday, April 10, Zelensky received the credentials from Luis Manuel Ribeiro Cabasa, who has taken over as Portugal's ambassador to Ukraine, replacing Antonio Alves Machado. Previously, he served as the ambassador of his country in Poland.
The President expressed gratitude to the ambassador for Portugal's support and the temporary protection extended to Ukrainians.
"Zelensky invited Portugal to join humanitarian initiatives and continue cooperation in areas that provide reliable security guarantees for Ukraine and the entire European continent," the statement noted.
It is worth recalling that on April 7, Zelensky signed several decrees on the appointment of new ambassadors, including filling the long-vacant position of ambassador to Norway for the first time since 2022. Additionally, a new ambassador was appointed to Finland.
Former Attorney General Andriy Kostin was appointed ambassador to the Netherlands, while Andriy Melnyk, a former ambassador to Germany and Brazil, is now the permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN.
