Call to Restore Aid to Ukraine
The Ukrainian Women's League of America is calling on the U.S. administration to reconsider its decision and fully restore the previously suspended assistance to Ukraine.
“We urge the U.S. Congress to publicly and firmly support Ukraine, to restore military and humanitarian aid, and to continue intelligence sharing with this ally that is currently resisting aggression,” the statement reads.
The U.S. decision could lead to “the dismantling of political norms, international relations, and alliances” that ensure the safety of the United States and maintain global stability since World War II, the organization emphasizes.
“A sudden and unilateral halt to military assistance to Ukraine will not only deal a devastating blow to it but will also undermine the reputation of the U.S. and destroy the trust of allies that has been built over 80 years,” the statement continues.
The refusal to support Ukraine showcases “the weakness and unreliability of the U.S.,” strengthening the positions of adversaries such as Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China to the detriment of the United States itself.
“This is a catastrophic path not only for Ukraine but also for the security of the U.S.,” the organization stresses.
The U.S. Congress is obligated to uphold the system of checks and balances enshrined in the Constitution and to demand the president adhere to international commitments and the laws passed, the authors of the statement remind.
On March 3, 2025, President Donald Trump ordered the suspension of all military aid to Ukraine – assistance that had already been approved by Congress and promised to Ukraine by former U.S. President Joe Biden on behalf of the American people.
