Trump and Zelensky Meeting: Etiquette and Military Style
During the meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, tension arose over the Ukrainian president's choice of attire, which did not include a formal suit.

Details: Trump's advisors repeatedly emphasized to Zelensky's team that it would be more respectful for the Ukrainian president to avoid military-style clothing during his visit to the White House.
Zelensky arrived wearing a formal black outfit featuring the national emblem of Ukraine, but without a suit.
"He dressed up a bit today" – commented Trump as he shook Zelensky's hand at the entrance to the West Wing of the White House.
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion by Russia, Volodymyr Zelensky has not worn a suit. Once, Polish President Andrzej Duda expressed hope that Zelensky would attend a summit "in a suit," symbolizing the end of the war in Ukraine.
In the Oval Office on Friday, one reporter asked Zelensky why he wasn't wearing a suit for such a high-level meeting in the United States.
"Why aren't you in a suit? Do you own one?" – the journalist asked.
"Do you have a problem with that?" – Zelensky replied.
"Many Americans are concerned about those who do not respect the dress code of the Oval Office", – responded the journalist.
After this exchange, Zelensky stated that he would wear a suit once the Russo-Ukrainian war concludes.
