Kyiv Under Attack: Impact of the Night Assault
On the night of January 20, Kyiv faced an assault from Russia, resulting in power and water supply disruptions. This was reported by Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the Kyiv City State Administration.
Klitschko noted that there was one injured person in the Dnipro district, where medical teams were dispatched.
He later mentioned that residential buildings were hit in the Dnipro area, and drones fell in open spaces, igniting vehicles.
The left bank of the city is experiencing significant power and water supply issues. Social infrastructure facilities have been switched to autonomous power supply.
The primary strike targeted the left bank of Kyiv, with damage recorded in three districts:
- In the Dnipro district, the shockwave damaged a high-rise building, injuring a 59-year-old resident. Debris also damaged about 20 vehicles.
- In the Darnytsia district, windows and fences of a private house were affected.
- In the Desnyan district, drone debris fell on cemetery grounds.
Following the attack on Kyiv, over 5,600 high-rise buildings are without heating, as reported by Mayor Klitschko.
“After this attack, 5,635 buildings are without heat. Nearly 80% of them had their heating restored since January 9,” Klitschko specified.
He reminded that after the strike on January 9, 6,000 homes were left without heating, of which 16 still remain without heat as of yesterday.
In Kyiv, the metro's operations have been altered due to the complicated energy situation caused by the shelling.
Train services on the red line resume between the stations “Akademmistechko” – “Arsenalna” with a frequency of 4:30-5:00 minutes.
To transport passengers from the left bank to the right bank after the alert, two trains will run between the stations “Livoberezhna” – “Arsenalna” considering the current power supply situation. The estimated interval is about 20-25 minutes.
Trains passing through the “Hydropark” and “Dnipro” stations will run without stops.
Train movements on the green line during air alerts start between the stations “Syrets” – “Vydubychi” (interval – about 07:00 minutes), between the stations “Osokorky” – “Chervonyi Khutir” (interval – 10:00 minutes)
Train movements on the blue line remain unchanged.
