Rescue of Ukrainian Children: New Stories from Occupied Territories
As part of the President of Ukraine's initiative Bring Kids Back UA, three more Ukrainian children have been successfully rescued from the temporarily occupied territories.
The stories of these young citizens, who returned to the controlled territory, were shared by the head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, on social media.
A 17-year-old boy was evacuated earlier, but his younger brother, aged 15, and sister, aged 12, along with their parents, remained in occupation.
“Russian soldiers threatened the family, interrogated the parents, and forced the children to attend a Russian school filled with propaganda. But now they are finally safe in the controlled territory of Ukraine,” Yermak noted about the details of the children's situation in the occupied territories.
The 16-year-old had lived under constant surveillance by the occupying authorities for nearly four years, with officers visiting their home and threatening the family for refusing to send their children to the Russian school. Eventually, our partners helped the boy escape, and today he is back with his family.
The head of the Office of the President thanked the Ukrainian Network for Children's Rights for their assistance in rescuing these children. We are fulfilling the president's mission — to bring all Ukrainian children home.
It is important to remember that Volodymyr Zelensky stated that more than 19,000 Ukrainian children have been abducted by Russians. The President emphasized that returning the abducted children is a priority and spoke about international support in this effort. He mentioned that over 1,600 children have already been returned home, but the search remains extremely difficult.
