Air Defense Operations: Latest Statistics on Neutralized Threats
The air defense forces successfully neutralized 283 Russian drones and five X-59 guided missiles. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram.
On the night of October 16 (starting from 8 PM on October 15), the enemy launched a combined strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure using strike UAVs and missiles from air and ground platforms. In total, the radio-technical troops of the Air Forces recorded 357 aerial threats, including 37 missiles (28 of which were ballistic) and 320 UAVs of various types:
- 320 strike UAVs of the Shahed and Gerber types (and other types) from the directions of Kursk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia, about 200 of which were Shaheds;
- 2 air-launched ballistic missiles X-47M2 "Kinzhal" from the airspace of the Ryazan region – Russia;
- 26 ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23 (launch areas: TOT AR Crimea; Kursk, Voronezh regions – Russia);
- 2 cruise missiles Iskander-K (launch areas: TOT AR Crimea; Rostov – Russia);
- 7 guided aviation missiles X-59.
The air strikes were repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 10:00 AM, preliminary data indicates that air defense has shot down or neutralized 288 aerial targets:
- 283 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, Gerber types (other types of drones);
- 5 guided aviation missiles X-59.
In addition, as of 10:00 AM, 18 enemy missiles were locally lost, and information is being clarified. Direct hits of 14 missiles and 37 strike UAVs were recorded at 14 locations, with debris falling at 2 locations.
The main direction of the strike is Poltava and Kharkiv regions. The attack continues, and several enemy UAVs are still in the airspace. Please adhere to safety rules!
