Ukrainian Railways: Resilience Amid Attacks
Since the beginning of August, Russia has launched nearly 300 strikes on the facilities of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia". Daily, railway workers manage to restore infrastructure within an average of 4 hours after attacks, allowing train operations to resume. Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksii Kuleba shared this on Facebook.
During the full-scale invasion, 221 railway workers have been injured, and 37 have lost their lives while fulfilling their duties.
"Thanks to the railway staff, trains continue to operate even after massive nighttime bombardments. In areas where tracks or stations are damaged, combined routes — train and bus — are in operation," he noted.
"Recently, six new carriages manufactured at the Kryukov Carriage Works have been dispatched. Five of them are headed to Kharkiv, and one to Dnipro. These are frontline routes where the load on the system is the highest," Kuleba reported.
These carriages are the final ones in a batch of 66 ordered by Ukrzaliznytsia last year, the minister emphasized.
More than 160 Ukrainian companies are involved in the production, including those relocated from temporarily occupied territories, he added.
