Attack on Energy Infrastructure: Latest Updates
On the morning of Wednesday, October 8, Russian forces struck an oil depot in Pryluky, Chernihiv region. Rescuers have shown footage of the aftermath of the attack.
This information was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) via Telegram.
The strike caused a large fire, and rescuers are currently working to extinguish it. Robotic technology has also been deployed for firefighting.
At this moment, there have been no reports of casualties.
Strike on October 8
It is worth noting that during the night of October 8, Russian forces conducted a massive strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
The primary targets of the strikes were Nizhyn and Pryluky in Chernihiv region, Kryvyi Rih in Dnipropetrovsk region, and Odesa region.
Near Nizhyn, 12 Shahed drones targeted the railway infrastructure, while in Pryluky, the oil depot was hit.
Significant smoke is observed in Pryluky, Chernihiv region, following the strike on the oil depot.
Residents of the city and surrounding areas have been advised to keep windows closed and limit outdoor activities in case of a change in wind direction.
In Kryvyi Rih, Russians launched about 30 Shahed drones and KABs, with damage reported to energy facilities.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 180 drones were launched across Ukraine at night, with only 154 intercepted.
The Ministry of Energy reported that the situation in the energy system is critical, urging Ukrainians to use electricity more sparingly.
