The UAV units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, in close collaboration with other components of Ukraine's Defense Forces, launched an attack on the Volgograd refinery (LLC Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka) on the night of August 14, which supplies fuel to the Russian army.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces via Facebook.
The strikes by combat drones caused significant fires at the plant.
Details regarding the aftermath of the attack are being clarified.
The General Staff noted that the Volgograd refinery is the largest producer of fuel and lubricants in the Southern Federal District of Russia. It processes over 15 million tons of oil annually, accounting for 5.6% of all Russian processing. The refinery produces diesel, gasoline, and aviation fuel, which are critical for the logistics of the Russian Armed Forces.
“We are consistently working to reduce the production capacities of petroleum products in the aggressor country and weaken its army. Russia must fully feel the consequences of its aggressive policies and cease its war against Ukraine,” emphasized the General Staff.
