Shelling in Kherson: Red Cross Volunteers' Vehicle Damaged
In Kherson, the vehicle used by Red Cross volunteers for evacuation was damaged during a shelling incident.
The organization announced this on their Facebook page.
On August 9 at 10:00 PM, Russian troops began an intensive artillery shelling of the city, focusing fire on the "Ostriv" neighborhood, where a mass evacuation of the population is ongoing.
Around 11:10 PM, another shelling occurred near the location of the Ukrainian Red Cross rapid response team in the Kherson region.
As a result of the attack, a Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle used by volunteers for evacuating people and delivering humanitarian aid was damaged.
There was also an ambulance, a Volkswagen Transporter, parked nearby, which had a wheel damaged by shrapnel.
Another group of volunteers was in a shelter at that time, so no one was injured.
The organization emphasized that they categorically condemn the shelling of civilian infrastructure and vehicles clearly marked with the Red Cross emblem, as such actions are a direct violation of international humanitarian law.
