Tragedy in Kyiv: Death Toll Rises to 28
The number of casualties from the attack on Kyiv on the night of July 31 has risen to 28, including 3 children. An additional 159 people have been injured, of which 16 are minors.
This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and by the spokesperson of the State Emergency Service, Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, during a news marathon, as well as the head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenk.
“Throughout the night and morning, rescuers retrieved 10 bodies from the rubble of a residential building in the Sviatoshynskyi district, including a 2-year-old child,” Khorunzhyi reported.
At 8:00 AM, Khorunzhyi announced that another victim had been found under the debris.
“We have confirmed 27 fatalities. Just now, we received information that rescuers pulled another person from the wreckage in the Sviatoshynskyi district,” he stated.
At 8:34 AM, the head of the Kyiv Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenk, reported that the death toll had risen to 28.
Khorunzhyi predicts that the number of casualties from this Russian strike may continue to rise.
The search and rescue operation is ongoing. Rescuers have currently dismantled 70% of the destroyed building's structure.
