Terrorist Attack in Kharkiv: New Casualties
In Kharkiv, new casualties have been reported due to an airstrike on the city center. The number of injured has reached 37.
This was announced by the city's mayor, Igor Terekhov, via Telegram.
“The number of people injured in the shelling has increased to 37”, - Terekhov stated.
He also noted that 20 residential buildings were damaged: 17 high-rise buildings and three private homes in the Shevchenkivskyi and Holodnohirskiy districts. The blast shattered 612 windows.
The mayor emphasized that these figures are preliminary, as assessments are still ongoing.
The strike also left a crater on the roadway. Seven cars were burned, and another 18 were damaged. A textile factory's production workshop, an administrative building of a municipal enterprise, and its storage facility also suffered damage.
Terekhov clarified that damage to the nearby electrical substation is not critical. Energy workers are planning to restore electricity supply to all consumers by evening.
“The city is functioning. Utility workers, rescuers, law enforcement, volunteers, medical personnel, and the Red Cross rapid response team are all on-site. We have already started to board up the broken windows, but not everywhere is it possible - in many apartments, the frames need to be cleared of glass first”, - the mayor reported.
Tomorrow, a mobile administrative services center will operate near the explosion site, allowing residents to submit applications for compensation under the “eRecovery” program.
There are currently no requests for relocation: people are trying to restore their homes. However, the city authorities are prepared for a change in the situation and offer temporary housing in dormitories.
“What happened today can only be defined as terrorism. Another targeted strike by the Russian Federation against the peaceful population. There were no military objects nearby”, - the mayor emphasized.
According to the State Emergency Service, among the victims of the airstrike are four children.
Over 100 rescuers and 35 units of emergency service equipment, including pyrotechnic and canine teams, are engaged in addressing the consequences of today's Russian terrorist attack on Kharkiv. Psychologists have assisted more than 50 individuals.
